Download and install Ontheair Video Express
Create and edit playlists
Configure output settings
Control playback and scheduling
Integrate with other devices and applications
Download and install Ontheair Video Express
To download Ontheair Video Express, go to https://softron.tv/products/play/ontheair-video-express and click on the \"Free Download\" button. You can try it for free for 30 days. To buy a license, click on the \"Buy Now\" button and follow the instructions.
To install Ontheair Video Express, double-click on the downloaded file and drag the application icon to your Applications folder. You will need to have macOS 10.13 or later and an internet connection for activation.
Create and edit playlists
To create a playlist, launch Ontheair Video Express and click on the \"+\" button at the bottom left of the main window. You can name your playlist and choose a playback mode: Chain, Loop, Cue or Shuffle. You can also lock your playlist to prevent editing and playback controls.
To add clips to your playlist, drag and drop them from the Finder or from the Media Browser window. You can use video, audio, images, live sources (from AJA or Blackmagic-Design devices) or streams (from RTMP, RTSP or HLS sources). You can also add comments (and set their colors), trim clips (set in/out points non destructively), rename clips, disable clips, auto-cue next clip, trigger GPIs and change audio gain on each clip.
To edit your playlist, you can use the toolbar buttons at the bottom of the main window or right-click on a clip to access more options. You can also use keyboard shortcuts for faster editing. You can find a list of keyboard shortcuts here: https://softron.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201275227-List-of-Keyboard-shortcuts-for-OnTheAir-Video-and-OnTheAir-Video-Express
Configure output settings
To configure your output settings, go to Ontheair Video Express > Preferences > Output. You can choose your output device from AJA or Blackmagic-Design devices, MFamily devices or NDI devices. You can also choose your video format, audio output and external audio output.
If you have the Smart Engine option enabled (available as an in-app purchase), you can also enable smart resize and graphics overlay, 10-bit video output (not with NDI), transitions (with different types and durations) and support for OP47 subtitling or closed captioning (with the CC option).
You can also preview your output on your Mac screen by clicking on the Preview button at the top right of the main window. You will see a video preview with audio vu-meters.
Control playback and scheduling
To control playback, you can use the toolbar buttons at the bottom right of the main window or use keyboard shortcuts. You can play, pause, stop, cue next clip, skip forward or backward, jump to a specific timecode or clip number. You can also see the elapsed time, remaining time and total duration of your playlist.
